The Mountain is an exhibition at <wirdnachgereicht> hosted by ROOM 13
June 17-20: Noon- 6pm Feldbergstrasse 40 4057 Basel
Two reflections on one sacred space.
Boalno, Invisible Flock
A sonic installation placing you in the centre of 3,000 reindeer circling during the annual corral at the top of Boalnotjåhkkå mountain. This area of Sápmi is an Indigenous governed biodiverse ecosystem in the Arctic.
Teardrops of Our Grandmother, Jenni Laiti and Carl-Johan Utsi
A poetic meditation on the precarity of survival in an endangered world. The Sámi way of life is intimately linked to the winter and cold. Frost and the eight seasons of the Arctic region are critically intertwined with the traditional Sámi way of life. Global warming is disrupting the seasons and threatening the survival of Indigenous communities and the other-than-human species that have adapted to cold Arctic conditions.
