Faint signals was created during COVID and was an invitation to explore sounds of a Yorkshire woodland, drawing from the British Library's vast sound archive. Explore a procedurally generated woodland, generated uniquely for each user. Walk over tiles of the landscape to unlock different habitats, species and rich vein of sounds from the forest, all of which are based on real life environments, with wildlife, weather and other nature sounds reflecting the diversity and complexity of ecosystems in the Yorkshire region.
The work has been commissioned by the British Library as part of Light Night Leeds 2020. With special thanks to Cheryl Tipp, Curator of Wildlife & Environmental Sounds at the British Library; Claire Booth-Kurpnieks, Researcher and Tereza Dankova.
